Private Chefs
Private Chefs are responsible for the organization and operation of the kitchen and the presentation and serving of the food. They may be required to assist with or oversee special functions or events. Private Chefs are responsible for all the meal preparation and stocking of the kitchen including the ordering of the groceries.
Their main skills should be: ability to be creative, ability to work on own initiative as well as being team players, total flexibility to be available for the requirements of the clients and guests, excellent timekeeping, flexibility and reliability, discretion at all times and a respectful attitude towards the Family.
The Private Chef will be expected to take full responsibility for the running of the kitchen and planning of menus in order to cater for all the requirements of the family and their guests. To work in a busy household alongside a small team of kitchen staff to provide the highest level of service for the family at all times.
Some of our specialized chefs are experts in specific dietary needs like low calorie, dairy free, vegetarian, gluten free, vegan, kosher, macrobiotic, raw, or healthy California cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
Cook lunch and dinner for the family and their guests on a day-to-day basis, to take responsibility for all menu planning in consultation with the Family or the House Manager, to carry out all related shopping and purchasing of supplies, to cater for formal dinner parties to a high standard when required, but also cater for children’s play dates and birthday parties when necessary, to ensure daily lunch and dinner are prepared for the staff when required, to prepare and maintain an inventory of kitchen stocks, to direct and train kitchen staff. Private Chefs are knowledgeable of different types of menus and the ability to accommodate special dietary needs.
